Mia & Sajiha - Tahuna Torea Reflection

Yesterday afternoon we went to Tahuna Torea Reserve. This related to our topic flight because it was linked to the learning that we have done about the Bar-tailed Godwit or also known as the Kuaka. We explored the wetlands we observed the land. We were seeking the Bar-tailed Godwit but we sadly didn't see the bird. I also saw many different birds as well such as the Pukeko and the Grey Heron Bird. I had fun at exploring the reserve I hope to visit next time.

Rockets At Tamaki College

On Friday, year 7 and 8's  went down to Tamaki College to create rockets. The presentation above shows and explains all the information we gathered up together. There is also a video included for you to create your own straw rocket. I have also added my results followed with an average distance.

Click on the link above to access a 'Storyboard that' created by Zeba and I based on the connection between the Godwit/Kuaka Bird and Maori People. We researched many different sites to help us gather information for our main story prompt. We found the story about their connection and retold the story in our own words. It was really fun to recreate their story in our own way. 

Kuaka/Godwit Sketchnote

I have created a Google Drawing to show my learning of Godwits. I added a map of their habitat as well as a photo of the location, their appearance, their pull and push factors and interesting facts about migration. I also wrote a paragraph about Tahuna Torea which is the name of their main habitat in Panmure, Auckland, New Zealand. 

Bar Tailed Godwit/Kuaka Popplet

For Inquiry this week our topic was with the Bar Tailed Godwit/Kuaka. We explored the Godwit's appearance, diet, habitat and appearance through finding useful information with our smart searching skills. I then worked collaboratively with Zeba to create this Popplet. We also added images of the Godwit, it's predators and their natural habitat. 

Jean Batten Infographic

This week for inquiry, I have been focusing on Jean Batten. My task today was to create a DLO of my choice based on interesting facts about Jean. I have used Pikto Chart to create this infographic. If you would like to try out the site, click here. 

Amy Johnson

This week for Inquiry, we have been focusing on Aviators. We created a timeline based on a Aviator of our choice. Amy Johnson is the aviator that I chose. I created this timeline on a site called Popplet. I also added images on my timeline to link with the information I had. 

Switzerland

This week, we have been working on a small Inquiry activity. We first used a 'Name Generator' site which helped us choose a letter for our topic. We then decided a topic starting with that letter. I got the letter S and decided to create a Google Presentation based on Switzerland. I came up with three open questions and searched for my answers online. I also added a slide for fascinating facts and another slide with interesting photos of Switzerland. 

Cybersmart Session with Mrs. Ogilvie

Today, Mrs.Ogilvie visited Panmure Bridge School from the National library to show us some useful sites and tips to help us with our smart searching skills. We explored 2 sites from a page called Epic. One of the sites is called Britannica School which helps us with finding useful information to almost any subject. The information is also sorted into 3 different sections; Primary, Intermediate and Secondary. This helps you choose simple or complex information. We also explored another site called Kids Infobits. The site helps find lots of useful information and even has links to pictures and videos. A huge thank you to Mrs. Ogilvie who helped us all with sharing sites and tips. 

Rockets Lucid Chart

This term, our topic is Flight. Recently, we had been learning about how Rockets work. This is a Lucid Chart that I have created collaboratively with a partner. We have added Newton's three laws and facts about the world's biggest rocket as well as an image of the rocket.

Anna Grimaldi

Since our topic this week is the Olympics, I have created this Google Presentation based on Anna Grimaldi who is a Paralympic Olympian. I have added a description of Anna, her disability and a 2 pictures of her, including a picture of Anna participating in one of the Long Jump activities.

Forces of Flights

Today we had our first inquiry rotation. This term our topic is flight. We discussed the forces of flight which are Lift, Thrust, weight and drag. This google drawing that I have created collaboratively with a partner explains the forces of flight and Isaac Newtons first rule.

Ancient & Modern Olympics Comparison

For the past 2 weeks, I have been in Mrs.Naickers group learning about the Ancient and Modern Olympics. This is one of the tasks I have created with my partner, Zahra. We have listed facts about both the Ancient Olympics and the Modern Olympics. And also facts about both of them that are the same.

CARE Award - Life at PBS

This is my collage displaying life at PBS. I included pictures that are memorable to me and to the school.  Pictures that show trips we have been to, sports we have played, technology at Tamaki College and some artworks. This is my RESPECT task for my CARE Award. 

My Personal Passion

 

 This is a task for my CARE Award. I had to create a DLO showing my interest in my Personal Passion. Which is netball, I have also added a picture to show what netball looks like.

Olympians Diet

For the past two weeks, I have been in Mr. Wong's Inquiry group. Our main focus was the ancient Olympians diet. I have worked collaboratively with Zahra to create this presentation. We learn't the meaning of Protein, Carbohydrate, Fat and Vitamins/Minerals. This was a really fun challenge and I have learn't a lot.

Hauora

For the past 2 weeks, I have been in Mrs. Anderson's group for Inquiry. This is a Google Presentation that showcases the fun activities we have completed in our sessions. 

Attributing Images

Today, we have been learning how to attribute images. I have added 4 images and have added the name of the owner, the website and the license. We also learnt about why it is important to attribute images.

Oobleck DLO

Recently, my science group made Oobleck with Ms. K. I have worked collaboratively with one of my classmates to create this Google Drawing about the steps we had to follow and the outcome we ended up with. We also added pictures of us whilst the experiment. 

Leadership Qualities

I have created a Google Presentation about why Malala Yousafzai inspires me. I have listed the reasons why she is my leader, her leadership qualities, a famous quote from her, the challenges she has faced and 5 interesting facts about Malala.
